Part
one - Mortal life
Robert
wakes in his makeshift sleeping spot in a broken river water pipe
that's frozen over. He wakes the two children (boy and girl) that are
cuddled next to him under the cloak.
He
leads them through small holes in walls and over barricades to evade
the Vyreh.
Unfortunately
a single Vyreh notices them, and when he closes in Robert lights a
bottle of fluid with some flint, and sets the ground aflame.
The
Vyreh can't make them out from the heat of the flames (thermal vision), and they
escape.
When
they gets to a out of the way house, he knocks out a code, and the
children are let in. The parent thanks him, and Robert sneaks into an
alleyway.
Uncovering
his face, Robert walks about like a normal person (explain the
feeding times). He goes to check the Growing Houses. When an
irritable Vyreh asks him what he's doing there, Robert fakes a story
that his family is starving, and wonders if there is anymore
left over food. The Vyreh throws him out saying that there never is
any extra food. Done with checking where the food shipping roots are
and the current status of the crops, Robert leaves.
Robert
later makes it to the Resistance hideout (4th residential
district).
(Describe
how he's a wandering Resistance member, and is still a newer
recruit.)
Lynn
finds him and congratulates him when he tells her what he was doing.
He simply replies it's the best he can do to help (explain how he is
like the adopted child of Lynn, and how he lives with her and her daughter). He gives
her the info he found in the growing houses. He goes to the store
room to gather another vial of fire oil, nodding his greetings toward
Lynn's daughter Valarie on his way in (Explain his relationship with
her, and how they almost never talk). Robert then checks the requests
that find their way to the Resistance headquarters. Finding none that
require rescue or disappearance (his specialties), he relaxes in the den a bit.
Lynn
later tells him they are heading home. They leave the building
together, Robert, Lynn and Valarie. They slip through a door in a
nearby alleyway that's near the district divider wall, pull back a
rug and lift up some fake floorboards, and travel underneath the
“impassable” wall of stone. Once out, they travel over a few
buildings, enter, and then open a trapdoor under another rug, where their
quarters are hidden.
Inside,
it's a converted wine cellar, with a central room and two beds in the
corner that are half concealed by drapes. There's a stove and a pipe
with fount, as well as common food products like peas, onions, and
salted meat. They burn a coal burner for heat, but it's still a cold area,
and has many blankets. Robert sleeps in the small side 'room', while
Valarie and Lynn sleep in the other bed. (explain how they met
Robert). He thinks about how much he loves his adopted family, before
sleeping.
The
following morning, The three are woken by the sound of heavy wing
beats. Fearing they have been found, or are about to be so, they
prepare for for a dash out of the hiding area, and wait for many long
minutes. The wing beats grow louder, and the sounds of screaming
reach them. Lynn has Valarie stay in the cellar, and she and Robert
cautiously leave.
People
are running about in a panic. Vyreh are diving out of the sky and
killing people on sight. Robert and Lynn engage single Vyreh, burning
them with their weapons. They Robert notices that if there are any
children running away, the Vyreh grab them and take them away without
causing harm. He and Lynn fight until no more Vyreh are in the area.
There are mutilated bodies everywhere. Valarie, who dares leave the
house, retches at what she had and is now seeing. The Lynn decides that they
should go to the hideout to assess the damage better and to learn why this happened.
Near
their hideout, they see a young girl (short, brunet) lying “dead” in an
opening. Valarie instantly recognizes her as her friend, and runs toward her
without thought. (a man cowering in the shadows stutters to the others
that it's a trap!) Valarie is relieved to find that her friend is only
unconscious. When she turns to tell the others, her heart skips a beat as
she sees a huge Vyreh crouched on a rooftop they passed, looking
directly at her. It launches toward her just as Lynn and Robert get
to her. Lynn is thrown aside like a rag doll, and Robert, who manages
to parry a few blows of it's sword, is stabbed directly through the
chest, a fatal wound. Valarie screams in disbelief, and it's the last
thing that Robert hears as he falls.

Deep
within the black fortress of spires that make up Drekam's home, the
grand general walks into a black-fog filled room occupied with a dark
evil presences, and the chanting of many warlocks. He's holding the
bound little Valarie many feet in the air. He tells his lord that the
last children have been rounded up and that 'this' child has been
confirmed at the daughter of the resistance. Nonchalantly Drekam
says he has enough children in storage, kill her as slowly and
painfully as possible, he no longer cares about information that she
may know. As a scrawny Vyreh comes to take her away, Drekam asks the
general to stay for the ritual, who in turn replies that he would
never miss it, he's awaited this day for hundreds of years. When
Valarie is dragged out she's shaking from the extremely evil presence
that room had held. The old Vyreh laughs at her condition, and then
tells her that the Pit of Hell is a place Drekam sends his most
'special guests', and that he will love hearing her scream. He throws her in a
normal cell for now so that they can set up the pit. Valarie is left
to cry in her cell. Suddenly she hears a demonic chanting coming from
everywhere and nowhere at once. The shadows in the room gain life of
their own, and the sky darkens. The presence of evil is so strong
that nausea creeps up in her again, and she wails, her body
convulsing.
